"My long term vision for the city of Chicago is for our youth to truly believe they can do anything and help provide them with the resources to make their dreams reality. I plan to advance this vision by using my platform to not only develop programs that target youth of color but also support and partner with organizations that share the same goal."

Sierra’s passions are fighting for justice and empowering others. As an Assistant State’s Attorney for Cook County, making all communities safe remains the focus of Sierra’s career. Sierra was born and raised in Chicago public housing and believes her formative experiences and struggles have helped shape her passion to serve and empower underserved communities. Despite consequences and obstacles, Sierra is committed to bringing historically silenced voices to the table and is not afraid to stand up for what’s right.

Presently, Sierra is Vice President of Programs for the National Black Prosecutors Association promoting progressive programs and policies. She believes in being proactive and creating innovative approaches to address societal challenges. Sierra has previously served as a constitutional law adjunct professor in the city of Chicago and as an Auxiliary Board member for Lawyers Lend a Hand.

Sierra received her Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctorate from Howard University and is a proud “double-bison.” While attending law school, Sierra was Vice President of the Criminal Law Society, an elected Graduate Student Representative and a member of the Huver I. Brown Trial Advocacy Team. In 2013 Sierra was selected as a NAACP Legal Fellow and gained firsthand experience addressing national civil rights issues. She has held various legal internships which include United States Senate Committee of the Judiciary and the U.S. Attorney’s office in Washington D.C. Sierra is a proud member of Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
