John leads Ariel’s efforts to integrate best-in-class environmental, social, and governance-related policies into our investment process. As ESG analyst for our domestic research team, he proactively works with portfolio companies to adopt and strengthen their social impact and governance practices. John also oversees Ariel’s public policy and civic engagement strategies.
Prior to joining the firm, he worked at the White House implementing partnerships with the private sector, including the CEO-led President’s Jobs Council, serving as an advisor to Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors Austan Goolsbee. John currently serves on the boards of the University of Chicago Laboratory School Alumni Association and the Hyde Park Art Center.
He graduated with a BA in economics from Harvard College and earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.
