Jonathan Buckner is a native of Columbus, GA. He graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in history. From there he went on to earn a Juris Doctorate from The University of Tennessee in 2009.
He currently serves as a mentor and Young Leadership Board member for America Needs You; a non-profit organization that provides transformative mentorship and intensive career development for first-generation college students. He is also a former director of Minority Legal Education Resources, Inc., an organization committed to increasing minority bar membership.
Jonathan is currently works for Lyft, Inc. as a Public Policy Manager. In this role, he is responsible for promoting and monitoring all legislative matters concerning ridesharing for Lyft, Inc. in the southeastern United States. Prior to joining Lyft, Jonathan served the people of Cook County as a senior staff member to Cook County Board President, Toni Preckwinkle. He has also represented the people of Cook County as an Assistant State’s Attorney.
