Mariana Olga Cisneros Bravo
Associate of College Success
Mariana Olga Cisneros Bravo serves as an Associate for College Success on the Chicago Scholars team. Alongside the rest of Team Lift, they support students through their college experience to graduation. If you have any questions or concerns about navigating the resources available to you, reach out to Mar!
Mariana’s passion for access to higher education is rooted in their experience of education as a liberatory practice with the potential to provide students a space to explore their identities and find empowerment. Mariana pursued these passions in their studies, and graduated with a B.A. in Public Policy Analysis/Chicanx and Latinx Studies from Pomona College in California. Their work and research focused on education policy as it intersects with race, class, ethnicity, immigration, gender identity/expression, sexuality and ability. Mar dedicated their time to working with students of all ages on and off campus, in and out of the classroom. In their last year of college, they interned with the Mental Health team at KIPP LA as they created and implemented school policies to better support Trans Youth.
Their advice to college students is to hold onto and seek out those moments when you feel most curious, empowered, and invigorated. And, as their wise mother said to them in their first year of college, wash your towels/sheets every once in a while, and take a deep breath when necessary.
Mar replenishes through making music, writing poetry, journaling, laughing with family/chosen family, and crafting involving lots of glitter.
