Manager, Finance and Operations
Sarah Clapper joined Chicago Scholars as Manager of Finance and Operations in August 2016. She is responsible for day-to-day office operations, financial management, and human resources functions. If you have questions about Chicago Scholars’ onboarding, budget, or other financials, Sarah is the team member to turn to.
Sarah believes that college should be accessible to everyone. Her objective is to help the day-to-day operations of Chicago Scholars run smoothly, so the hundreds of students we serve can achieve their dreams of going to college.
Prior to joining Chicago Scholars, Sarah worked as Operations Manager at Rainbows for All Children (Rainbows)—an organization that provides grief support groups for children who have lost a loved one. During her time at Rainbows, Sarah was responsible for all day-to-day operations and financial management. This experience equipped her with the tools and knowledge of what makes an organization operate like a well-oiled machine while staying true to the mission.
Sarah attended Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, IL and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. While attending classes, she also played four years of collegiate soccer—Go Bluejays! Sarah continued her education at DePaul University, where she earned a Master’s degree in Public Service Management.
Sarah’s advice to those in college is to try new things: join or start a new school club; take a challenging course that's not part of your major. Stepping out of your comfort zone can create so many opportunities.
While she lives in the suburbs of Chicago, Sarah is a true “Cheeshead” and attends as many Green Bay Packer football games as she can! She loves playing soccer, watching a good documentary, and going for weekend runs with her husband and their dog.
