Director of Corporate Giving
Yair Adao Rodriguez currently serves Chicago Scholars as the Director of Corporate Giving. Aside from fundraising, he is a specialist in public relations, partnership development, and leadership training. If you are interested in becoming a corporate sponsor or want to explore ways to invest in Chicago Scholars’ ambitious youth or provide them with professional opportunities please reach out to Yair.
Yair always seeks to connect individuals to resources and opportunities which he did not have growing up or was not exposed to early in his career. Through his network, he continuously seeks to connect youth with internships and scholarships, and for those graduating college – with opportunities for full-time employment. “The only way to move our communities forward is to provide assistance and exposure to youth and young professionals. It is our responsibility to help plant youth in diverse professions and grow them as leaders.”
Aside from working with communities at a local level and working at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Yair has spearheaded city-wide and state-wide conferences for College DREAMers and their families. Recently, he was involved in the execution Chicago Public Schools’ DREAM Fund Scholarship Benefit which raised over $15,000 on-site for future college students.
Yair strives to be a role model for his family and his community. Yair attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. During this time, he spent two years abroad between France, South Korea, and Brazil. Two years after graduation, he returned to UIC to obtain his Masters in Public Administration.
Yair previously served as the Chair for the Young Professionals Board for the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement and currently serves as the Communications Co-Chair on the Steering Committee for the Chicago Community Trust’s Latino Giving Circle. He also sits on the advisory board for YoLoBe – an online platform that connects youth with resources in the community. Yair recently co-founded 1840 Creative, a start-up that provides custom design services and handcrafted fabrication of industrial-style furniture. In the fall of 2015, Yair was named to Chicago’s inaugural “Latino 40 Under 40.” Early 2016, Yair received the Remy Martin One Life \ Live Them Award and was featured in a national campaign that celebrates and recognizes individuals’ multi-talents.
In the winter, Yair enjoys nothing more than spending an entire day snowboarding.
